The Bissell Crosswave Pet Pro {Review}

Are you a pet owner who's looking for an efficient and affordable way to clean up your home? Look no further than the Bissell Crosswave Pet Pro Vacuum! This powerful vacuum has been designed specifically for annoying pet hair and dirt. So it can easily take care of all the messes your furry friend leaves behind!

Overview

The BISSELL CrossWave Pet Pro is a hybrid upright mop vacuum that works well on bare floors, tiles, linoleum, and rubber floor mats. It's also fairly sturdy, quiet, and easy to transport and store. This Vacuum also comes with a two-tank system that keeps clean and dirty water separate, so you are always using clean water and formula mixture on your floors

It is worth noting that this BISSELL product can't be converted into a handheld vacuum, making it difficult to clean up spills on furniture or in other tight spots. It also lacks any floorhead height adjustment, and the suction power cannot be changed, so it isn't ideal for cleaning shag carpeting messes.

The BISSELL CrossWave Pet Pro comes in only one color: Titanium With Grapevine Purple and Sparkle Silver. You can purchase this vacuum as part of the Performance Exclusive Bundle, which includes an additional filter, a 32oz bottle of Multi-Surface detergent, and two more multi-surface brush rolls.

Design

Below, we discuss some of CrossWave Pet Pro's key design features in more detail.

Build Quality

When compared to other BISSELL vacuums, the BISSELL CrossWave Pet Pro is well-built. The mainframe is composed of tough plastic with an aluminum wand-more robust than the BISSELL Adapt Ion Pet. However, when running over surfaces that are not even, it has been known to creak. But have no fear! It's easy to take apart and put back together again.

The textured, hexagonal surface of this vacuum's handle ensures a secure grip. You can easily find and use most of its controls without having to take your hand off the handle; the mode switch is on top, and the detergent trigger is just beneath it.

Dirt Tank/ Compartment

The dirt compartment is 0.45 liter in size and has a compartment system that does a good job of keeping pet hair from recirculating back into the environment.

There's also a max fill line that lets you know when it's full. A separate 'Floater' component automatically shuts off the suction motor and produces a screeching noise once the dustbin is filled with water while mopping, so you don't have to worry about overfilling it.

Range

The BISSELL CrossWave Pet Pro has great range, making it easy to clean most rooms without worrying about needing to find different outlets. However, one downside is that the wand doesn't extend or retract.

This might make it difficult for you to find a height that suits your preferences. If you're looking for another hybrid vacuum/mop with a similar design but don't want to deal with the power cord issue, then you should consider investing in the BISSELL CrossWave Cordless Max 2554.

Portability

The BISSELL CrossWave Pet Pro is neither too light nor too heavy, making it a perfect middle ground for those who are looking for something easily portable. It weighs more than cordless vacuums like the BISSELL Adapt Ion Pet but much less than conventional uprights like the Shark APEX Upright Vacuum. Not to mention, it has a built-in carrying handle!

Performance

A woman vacuuming pet hair

Here, we go over how the CrossWave Pet Pro rates in terms of suction power, maneuverability, ability to handle stains, and noise levels.

Maneuverability

The BISSELL CrossWave Pet Pro does not have excellent maneuverability. Its floorhead pivots let you get around barriers with easiness. But, its large body is a bother when trying to clean underneath tables and chairs.

This vacuum cannot handle shag-pile carpeting because the strands will get stuck in the floorhead. However, you shouldn't have any issues while vacuuming low or medium-high pile rugs and carpets.

If you're looking for a vacuum with better maneuverability, check out the BISSELL Adapt Ion Pet.

Suction Power

The suction power on this vacuum is not adjustable. It's set to work best on bare tile or sealed wood floors and low-pile carpets. It does, however, have two settings: 'Vacuum and Wash' for vacuuming and washing your floors at the same time and 'Vacuum Only' for when you only want to vacuum.

Stains

The BISSELL CrossWave Pet Pro is excellent for removing stains. Its floorhead has a detergent-dispersal mechanism that allows it to target stains and remove pet odors more effectively than shop vacuums. The manufacturer suggests using the 'Hard Floor' setting for regular bare surface cleaning and the 'Area Rug' mode for more stubborn pet messes, as this will release more detergent onto the brush roll.

Keep in mind that this vacuum may not clean up 100% of the residue after one pass. You'll likely have to make a few passes for most stains, and if there are set-in stains, you might be better off using a steam mop so that you can apply more pressure on the stain.

Features

This vacuum doesn't have too many features. You can choose between 'Area Rugs' and 'Hardwood Floors' with a handle-mounted switch. This setting just changes the amount of detergent sprayed on the brush roll when you pull the trigger, and it does not change brush roll height or suction power.

While the floorhead does have a built-in light, it only activates after pulling the detergent release trigger. The 'Headlight' checkbox has been deselected.

Noise

The BISSELL CrossWave Pet Pro is quite noisy. At approximately 80 dBA, you won't be able to hear anyone talking or any other background noise while it's running. Since there are no power adjustment settings or attachments that would change the incoming airflow of the vacuum, you won't notice any significant changes in how loud this vacuum gets. It's worth noting that the 'Floater' component inside the dirt compartment makes an unbearable screeching noise when full of water.

Maintenance

Below, we've listed some tips on how to keep your CrossWave Pet Pro running like new.

Cleaning The Brushroll And Pad

The tangle-free brush roll and pads can be removed for easy cleaning. Simply press the 'Brush Roll Clean Out' button (it's located on the side of the vacuum near the bottom) to release the brush roll. You can then pull out any debris that may have gotten stuck in it. The pads can also be removed by pressing down on the two green tabs located on either side of the floorhead.

Cleaning Water Tank

The water tank is attached to the back of the vacuum body and can be simply unhooked from its housing. It has two separate indicators for both water and detergent levels, one for small regions and the other for vast ones. Fill it to the desired water level first, then add the correct quantity of detergent based on the size of the area you're going to clean. After every usage, empty the water tank.

Cleaning The Dirt Compartment

To remove the dirt compartment, push down on the release button. After each use, lift the cover with the 'Floater' component, which is a safety mechanism when using the vacuum as a mop since it stops the suction motor and produces an audible "screech" to signal that it is full.

In addition, ensure that you take out any sizable debris caught in the strainer of the dirt compartment. If there's a copious amount of dirt, wash the 'Floater' along with the dirt compartment under water. Positioning the vacuum filter back above the dirt compartment is necessary before putting it back together.

Filter

You'll need to remove the dirt compartment first before getting to the filter, which is located on top. To clean it, remove any hair or debris that may be clogging it. The manufacturer suggests rinsing it with cold water and letting it air-dry for 24 hours before putting it back in the vacuum.

Recurring Costs

The manufacturer does not recommend a replacement interval for the brush roll. But you may purchase one from BISSELL's website. You need to replace your filter every six months, and you can purchase a replacement easily from BISSELL's website. For the cleaning solution, you'll need to get a new one based on the frequency of your usage.
