Queen

An awesome local community member was coming home from work when they saw an accident with a deceased dog. Queen and her mom were hit and unfortunately, her mom did not make it. The kind citizen took Queen to the shelter, Dallas Pets Alive rescue tagged her and supported her medical expenses and recovery from her injuries. Had Queen stayed at the shelter without rescue support, she would have likely been euthanized for space, since the shelter staff just simply does not have the capacity or time to care for injured animals the same way rescue organizations and fosters can. Thankfully, Queen has made a full recovery and she is waiting for a home of her own. You can apply to adopt Queen by emailing adopt@dallaspetsalive.org.

Emma

Like many of the animals that come to our rescue, Emma’s background remains one big question mark. And although we will likely never know what her history has looked like, sometimes, you don’t even need this to understand the neglect, abuse, and trauma an animal has endured.

Sweet Emma was found abandoned and all alone at a gas station next to a busy highway. She was frightened and fearful for her life not only because of the unknown and the loud cars zooming by but also because she was battling an excruciating injury and was unable to even walk comfortably or properly.

After laying eyes on this defeated and helpless little girl, we didn’t even have time to think. We immediately brought her home with us so that she could embark on her journey for a second chance at life. After settling in her foster home, we brought Emma to the vet where pelvic radiographs revealed that her limp resulted from prominent hip dysplasia from a previous injury. Emma received NSAIDS for pain management as the next plan in action is her potential double FHO due to her congenital hip dysplasia.

With help from donations, Emma has been able to have her FHO procedure, she was given the time to heal in a foster home and has been adopted!

Kahn

Kahn was rescued with awful lacerations from an embedded choke collar he had clearly been wearing for way too long. He is in a loving foster home that is helping with the hands and feet of his medical care, thanks to donors who make it possible. He was sedated while the wounds around his neck were clipped and cleaned. He has been prescribed a bucket of antibiotics, NSAIDS, and cream to help treat his wounds from the outside. He has weekly hydrotherapy sessions as a routine part of his healing process. Despite his trauma, this pup has the will to live. He is still looking for a home of his own to spend the rest of his days in, but until then he will be healing with his foster parents.
